Julia Suerth is a registered nurse who specializes in chronic care management, remote patient monitoring, and oncology nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona College of Nursing in 2020 and is certified through the Oncology Nursing Society. Julia primarily serves the geriatric patient population and reviews Lifeline health content for clinical accuracy, safety, and tone.
Julia’s path into nursing started young. She grew up surrounded by nurses, including her grandmother, and was drawn to caregiving from an early age. She took medical assistant classes in high school, then went directly into the University of Arizona’s nursing program, earning her BSN during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her clinical career began in outpatient oncology, focused on chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and IV infusion care for patients managing complex, long-term diagnoses. From there she moved into oncology travel nursing, took a brief dermatology travel assignment, worked in remote telephone triage, returned to oncology travel work, and eventually settled into her current role on a chronic care management and remote patient monitoring team.
In her current role, Julia helped design the chronic care management program from the ground up alongside a colleague. Together they shaped the patient outreach approach, the in-portal workflows, and the day-to-day clinical practices that now support a growing population of older adults living with multiple ongoing health conditions at home. The work brings together everything Julia has learned across oncology, telehealth, and complex chronic care: meeting patients where they are, paying close attention to detail, and supporting them through the realities of life with a long-term diagnosis.
Julia’s commitment to caring for older adults is personal. Her grandmother, whom she called Nana, was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome in her forties and lived with progressive paralysis through the end of her life. As a teenager, Julia helped care for her, and that experience shaped the kind of nurse she became. She brings that same combination of clinical attention and genuine compassion to every Lifeline article she reviews.
“I’m passionate and detail organized, and I come from a place of empathy. That means taking good care of patients, paying attention to detail, and being compassionate and understanding to whatever situations arise.”
