A Notice to Our Subscribers

Lifeline Systems Company (“Lifeline”) is committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of our subscriber’s information. Regrettably, this notice concerns a security incident that may have involved some of that information.

On August 6, 2022, we identified unusual network activity. We immediately initiated our incident response protocols, which included isolating potentially impacted systems and network functions. We also began an investigation with the assistance of a computer forensic firm. The investigation determined that an unauthorized person gained access to our network between July 27, 2022 and August 6, 2022 and, during that time, accessed some of the documents on our system. We initiated a review of the documents involved to determine what information may have been accessible to the unauthorized person. This review is currently ongoing. However, on August 18, 2022, we determined the documents may have contained certain subscribers’ information, including names, dates of birth, health insurance information, medical condition, type of personal emergency response device, and/or provider name. In limited instances, patients’ Medicare and Medicaid numbers and/or credit or debit card information may also be involved.

Once the review is complete, we will mail notification letters to subscribers whose information is identified in the documents and for whom we have sufficient contact information. We will offer complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection service services for eligible subscribers. We recommend that subscribers review statements they receive related to their healthcare. If subscribers identify charges for services they did not receive, they should contact the healthcare entity immediately.

We regret any concern or inconvenience this incident may cause, and remain committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of subscriber information. To help prevent something like this from happening again, we have enhanced our existing network monitoring capabilities, and will continue to regularly audit our systems for any unauthorized activity.

We have established a toll-free number to help answer individuals’ questions regarding this incident. If you have questions, please call 855-532-1775, available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
